Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with volunteering for the community. First, the Selmon family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children in a Eufala farm. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. For three seasons as a starter Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975. He was also selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the university of California at Berkeley. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa and spent the next 9 years with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was named All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. He began his career in 1988. began working as an Account Relations Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the top 10 young men in the country. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was on the team. group. In 1993 he was appointed as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
