Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She's also a seasoned public speaker. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency the site which features video and posts on the representations of women in pop media. Interested in issues concerning gender identities and feminisms from the age of 7, she started her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the University. It was a girl determined to make an online series to examine the gender roles in video games. In the end, she ended up being the target of cyber-bullying. This attack didn't stop her, but instead strengthened her determination as an activist for women in media. She has won several awards for her contributions to the cause of feminism.
